Privacy policy

This site is run by Midas Entertainment, Lenoir City, Tennessee. It is a small business website. The short version is that the information collected here is what you type into the inquiry form, which goes to Rob Kermidas so he can answer you, plus the technical details every web server records and an anonymous count of visits.

What the inquiry form collects

Your name, email address, event date and event type, and optionally your phone number, venue or town, and whatever you write in the message box. The page you were on when you sent it is recorded too, so Rob knows what you were reading.

Two things are recorded with the form that you do not type: your browser’s identifying string, and your network address, which is kept for a short period to stop the form being flooded. Neither is used for anything else.

The form does not ask for your budget, your address, or anything about your finances.

What happens to it

It is stored in a private database and emailed to Rob Kermidas. He reads and answers inquiries; the person who maintains this website can also see the database so that it keeps working. It is used to reply to you, to quote your event, and to run your event if you book. It is not sold, rented, traded or shared with advertisers, and it is not added to a marketing list unless you ask to be on one.

If you book, some details necessarily reach the people who need them: your venue may be sent a certificate of insurance, and your photographer or coordinator may be sent the run of show with your names and timings on it. That is the job.

How long it is kept

Inquiries are kept until you ask for them to be deleted, or until they are cleared in a periodic tidy-up. Booking records are kept for as long as contracts and tax records have to be.

Cookies and tracking

This site sets no cookies of its own and runs no advertising trackers. There is no Facebook pixel and no advertising network on any page.

Standard web server logs exist, as they do for every website: an IP address, the page requested, and the time. They are used to keep the site working and to stop abuse of the inquiry form, and they are not linked to you as a person.

Visitor counts

Visits are counted with Plausible Analytics, which is built to count visits without identifying anyone. It sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device. For each visit it records the page, the site that sent you, your browser, operating system and type of device, your country, region and city, and how far down the page you read and for how long.

Your network address and browser details are used to tell a new visitor from a returning one on the same day, and they are never stored: Plausible combines them with a value it deletes every 24 hours. The reports show totals, such as how many people read a page, and nothing that identifies you. Plausible explains the rest in its data policy.

reCAPTCHA

The inquiry form is protected by Google reCAPTCHA, which is what stops the form being used by automated scripts. Apart from the visitor counter above, it is the only piece of third-party code on this site, and it loads only on pages that carry the form. It does not appear on the rest of the site at all.

When you use the form, reCAPTCHA looks at how the page was used and sends Google a score saying how likely it is that you are a person. To do that it reads device and browser information and may set its own cookies on google.com. That is Google collecting it, under the Google Privacy Policy and Terms of Service, rather than Midas Entertainment. What comes back to this site is a number and nothing else.

Two things worth knowing, because most sites do not say them. A low score does not delete your message: it is still recorded, and it can still be read and answered. And if you have JavaScript turned off, the form cannot run reCAPTCHA and will not accept your submission, so the page gives you Rob Kermidas’s phone number and email address instead. Neither of those routes involves Google at all.

Where it is held

The site and the inquiry database are hosted on Google Firebase, in the United States, and visitor counts are held by Plausible in the European Union. Email is sent through a standard email provider. All three are subject to their own security and privacy terms.

Children

This site is not directed at children and the inquiry form is not intended for anyone under 18 to complete.

Your choices

You can ask what is held about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Email events@midaswelldance.com or call (607) 743-1217. Deletion requests are honored unless a signed contract or a tax record requires the file to be kept, in which case Rob will tell you which and for how long.

Pages here link to other businesses, to venues, and to public sources such as county clerk offices. Those sites have their own policies and this one does not cover them.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. There is no archive of previous versions, so if a specific wording matters to you, keep a copy.
